Magnetic chokes for HID
FAQ: Frequently asked questions
-
What is the expected lifetime of magnetic ballasts?
-
The expected lifetime of magnetic ballasts is 100.000 h at the defined temperature.
-
-
What will happen if I use a magnetic ballast in a power supply with different voltage/frequency than the ballast is designed for?
-
The impedance of a magnetic ballast depends on the frequency. In order to achieve the proper lamp current and lamp voltage, magnetic ballasts have to be operated at the specified mains supply.
-
-
Which ballasts/igniters are suitable for my lamp?
-
This depends on
- the application
- the lamp
- and the quality of the luminaire.
-
-
I want to upgrade my luminaire from a mercury vapour lamp to a sodium vapour lamp. What do I need to know?
-
The light sources are replaced and an additional impedance (with integrated igniter) is installed in the existing luminaire to ensure optimum operation of the sodium vapour lamp.
-
-
What do the product references EC, OM, OG and OF mean?
-
They describe the different forms and output levels of the magnetic ballasts.
-
-
What are the potential energy savings in street lighting?
-
For detailed information see our brochure entitled Energy savings in street lighting.
