Our responsibility to the environment is made real through controlled workflows
Tridonic's sustainable, innovative and customer-oriented technologies mean that everyone benefits: the environment and people who use our products. We can contribute towards sustainable action and your business success by supplying resource-conserving, energy-efficient products. We take the following steps to achieve this:
Clear environmental management guidelines enable optimal protection
It long ago became apparent that individual environmental protection measures on their own are not enough. A joined-up strategy is needed in order to achieve effective results. Modern environmental management is called for.
For many years we have organised and monitored exactly such an environmental management system in order to implement our environmental policy, and we have integrated it into our quality management system. Stringent procedures, workflows and responsibilities are defined for all company-relevant processes and activities to make sure that they are adhered to. All these processes make sure that waste and emissions are continuously minimised.
Where waste cannot be avoided, it is recycled or disposed of in a sensible, environmentally-compliant manner. In addition, we regularly check all relevant environmental aspects and processes and document them in an audit report.
It is no coincidence that we are a company in which all production sites have achieved certification in accordance with Quality Management Standard ISO 9001, and some sites have also achieved certification in accordance with international Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001.
Quality and success – today and tomorrow – thanks to zero-defect objectives
Product quality is the top priority for us and is constantly monitored. As part of our Lean Six Sigma philosophy, we also operate a continuous improvement process and adopt a zero-defect approach. Our processes are constantly improved and systematically monitored, and the effectiveness of implemented process and quality improvement measures are followed-up through continuous reviews. In the event of any deviation, we instigate corrective measures and monitor their effectiveness. This ensures that resources are used in a sparing, cost- conscious manner throughout the entire life cycle of products, environmental pollution is prevented to the greatest possible extent and risks are minimised. This allows us to guarantee customers the very highest product quality at all times.
We think globally and act locally
16% of global energy consumption is accounted for by transport alone. What is more: transport accounts for 46% of all oil consumption. This wastage of resources due to global transport can only be eliminated by making transport routes shorter.
Nowadays it is impossible for any company to grow successfully without thinking globally. Nevertheless, our aspiration is to save the environment through products and services and to use raw materials responsibly. Plants in Europe, Asia and Australia allow fast, efficient transport to customers via the shortest route.
We are proud of the fact that our main manufacturing plants are located in Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and Australia rather than, as is customary today, only in low-wage countries. This proximity to the customer allows us to respond flexibly to our customers' needs in an economically and ecologically responsible manner.
EuP framework Directive (Directive on Energy using Products) to cut emissions
The manufacture and disposal of products, as well as their operation, also cause emissions. Since the introduction of the EuP framework Directive for energy using products, only Austria and Great Britain have so far transposed the Directive into national law. Work on preparing appropriate implementation measures for the framework Directive is currently underway in the EU.
In addition, the Kyoto Protocol, which was ratified in 1997 and came into force in 2005, stipulates mandatory targets for the emission of greenhouse gases. The EU has also committed itself to cutting its emissions by 30% by 2020. These ambitious objectives can only be achieved by new technologies. Intelligent Tridonic products are already making a significant contribution towards reducing CO2 emissions.
