LEDs are taking us from a component manufacturer to a technical system supplier

Tridonic presents its LED product portfolio for general illumination applications. The company now offers more than ever before and can now also be considered as a supplier of light sources.

Dornbirn, Austria – Tridonic is placing greater emphasis on systems and can offer its customers everything from individual components to complete systems. Digital light sources have now been added to the existing portfolio of electronic ballasts and lighting control components for professional illumination tasks.

The focus is on the specific requirements of luminaire manufacturers in individual applications. Tridonic is a versatile supplier that can offer its customers the right components, from LED light sources to light engines. Our strategy is to enable customers to enter into producing LED luminaires and lighting solutions at different stages in the value added chain. Tridonic offers packages ranging from individual components to modules, from converters to complete systems including lighting control. "With the wide range of options that our LED product portfolio offers, our clear strategy is to supply our customers with individual products and with product systems so they can manufacture LED products that meet the highest standards. As before, Tridonic itself will not be offering luminaires or lighting solutions and therefore will not be in competition with luminaire manufacturers", said Walter Ziegler, CEO of Tridonic.

The company offers its products together with its successful and now extended range of services. "We can offer our customers our in-depth expertise in applications and our excellent consultancy services based on ten years of experience in LEDs and more than 60 years in ballasts and electronic lighting control", added Walter Ziegler.

Tridonic is supplementing the current launch of LED products for general illumination with a communication campaign. This campaign has a timeframe of three years and will not only promote the LED products but also highlight the consultancy and service aspects as a particular strength of Tridonic. "The campaign underlines our ambitious objective of taking up a strong market position right from the start as a supplier in the LED segment for professional lighting", said Walter Ziegler. "As a leading player in the field of electronic ballasts and LEDs, Tridonic already holds more than 2000 patents."

This strong IP position has been systematically enhanced and expanded in recent years. In addition to access to all the relevant phosphor patents, the cross-licensing agreement with Philips from 2009 is an important factor. Cooperation with the Korean company LG Innotek has delivered another partner for high-performance, cost-effective LED technology. Now that the product portfolio has been expanded the company considers itself to be in an excellent situation. Over the coming months sup to light + building Tridonic will be launching further products for general illumination. At the same time, key technological expertise will be strengthened with investment in development, production, marketing and sales.
