Ignitors
High-intensity discharge lamps with the exception of mercury vapour lamps need additional energy in order to start. This energy is provided by the ignitor in the form of voltage pulses. There are basically two ignitor technologies, namely pulse and superimposed pulse.
ITG
“The Intelligent Temperature Guard” monitors the temperature of the ballast and protects it from transient overheating. The ECG is dimmed or switched off before it reaches the damage threshold so the temperature in the luminaire can fall. Each time this happens the event is stored and the actual status can be queried via the digital interface.
IVG
Intelligent Voltage Guard is an innovative prevention mechanism that constantly monitors the mains voltage at the control gear to protect it against possible damage due to overvoltage, e.g. in the event of a neutral conductor break. If the voltage is too high, the lamps start flashing. The installer can immediately take action to remedy the overvoltage.
