La Poste

The French La Poste Groupe has undergone an image makeover and now styles itself as dynamic, modern and clearly structured. It therefore wanted to update its logos and lettering to match this new image. With their special ability to backlight complex contours and provide uniform illumination over coloured surfaces, Tridonic’s TALEXX LED chains contribute to the brightness and attraction of the new La Poste signage.

Over the past few years the French post office has developed into a service-oriented enterprise which offers an extended range of services. But it is not just the corporate structure and the customer services that are changing. Its image is also being revamped to reflect the new status as a strong and competitive service provider. As a consequence, La Poste has introduced new logos, outdoor panels and signs. By the end of the project a total of 15,000 post offices will appear in the new design. Telephone boxes, vehicles and uniforms will all be given the new look.

Modern technology for a progressive company

The materials and technology used in this project had to be as progressive and innovative as the new logos. The basic requirements specified by La Poste were that the project had to be ecofriendly, economical and energy-efficient, that no poisonous materials had to be used, that the products had to be high-quality and the colours had to be in accordance with the corporate identity and brand image. There was also the request that the company providing the lighting should offer flexible and customer-specific solutions.

In addition to impressive economy and long life, Tridonic LED chains provide uniform illumination from only a small number of TALEXX modules, individually adjustable luminance and very low heat output. With TALEXXchain La Poste will achieve return on investment after only five years, without including maintenance costs. If these costs are also taken into account, the project will pay for itself after only two years because Tridonic LEDs and converters require no maintenance at all in the first ten years.

Perfect lighting for the signage elements

The oval yellow shields are made of acrylic by Altuglas. Acrylic is the only material that can be worked into unusual shapes. Perfectly uniform illumination is provided by TALEXXchain P516 12 V miniature LED chains in yellow-white, controlled via TALEXXconverter K220 25 VA / 12 V units. Only a few TALEXXchain modules are needed to illuminate the ovals and, with a luminous flux of up to 70 lm per module, make the signs an unmistakable advertisement. The panels with the modern La Poste lettering are fitted with TALEXXchain P511 units in daylight white and TALEXXconverter K220 units to give the lettering prominence. The ability of the TALEXX module chains to accentuate lines and provide perfect backlighting for the lettering results in high levels of clarity and recognition.

TALEXXchain P511 in daylight white and TALEXXconverter K220 are also used extensively in the new signs for the Banque Postale. The vibrant blue of the square logo beautifully offsets the yellow lettering. TALEXXchain units have a beam angle of 140 degrees, give emphasis to the yellow lettering and provide uniform illumination for the square.

The new signage elements for La Poste not only ensure that the post offices are unmistakable and easy to find for existing and new customers but have also been wholeheartedly welcomed by the employees. TALEXX LED technology has contributed significantly to this high level of acceptance.
